Benchmarking

While creating an aircraft seat design road map, benchmarking is one of the first steps to be carried out. Benchmarking work provided us with the keys to design, clues to production, and properties of materials. The benchmarking study also showed what geometric approaches should be used to ensure that the product meets the durability and lightness criteria.

Mechanical Design

Benchmarking studies also provide information about how companies’ patents were created. The mechanical design of the product, which will provide lightness and durability conditions unlike competing products, was carried out by a team effort. Mechanical design studies, which were carried out in coordination with patent and certification persons and institutions that provide side support to teamwork, were verified with mock-up and prototype productions and the tests were successfully passed. Aircraft seats, whose design work started in the second half of 2011 and mass production started in January 2014, had an industry size of 3 billion dollars that year.

We are honored to have our company actively involved in the design of the first domestically designed and produced aircraft seat study.

In a project we carried out in 2007, it was planned to make sun roof modifications to 4×4 off-road vehicles.

In project planning, we suggested that we should create a model that would be closest to the sunroof system, design work would be done on this model and we would put the new product into mass production accordingly.

3d Measurement

The existing ceiling covering on the vehicle was removed and the sun roof was installed. The ceiling covering, cut to suit the sun roof, was installed. 3D measurements were made using the 3D scanning method to carry out design work based on this model. In order to take precise measurements in narrow areas, special equipment was provided to enable the 3D measurement system to move within the vehicle, and some of them were made. In addition, systems called photogrometry were also used in the project to ensure accuracy in measurements. The 3D measurements taken were transferred to the computer in STL format, indicating all surface and boundary lines.

Re-design – Reverse Engineering

The forms, whose 3D measurements were taken, were modeled faithfully to the existing design and connection points of the vehicle, thanks to the advanced surface capabilities of the CATIA software. The redesign work is also called reverse engineering. In our reverse engineering studies; In addition to modeling the existing product exactly, the model applied to the modified vehicle, as in this project, is also improved and its lines are designed to be complete and precise. The redesigned ceiling was produced using wooden molds and the vacuum method.

The new ceiling produced was installed flawlessly and precisely in accordance with its original state, as seen in the photographs below.

These batteries are used in mobile systems such as satellites and electric vehicles. 50 or 1000 of these can be used in a package.

The safety and security systems of these batteries are of critical importance. In this project, mechanical flux interrupter system design analysis and prototype production were carried out for these batteries.

A system that will explode at certain pressures in the battery covers, as well as a current breaker system that reduces the pressure that will occur inside if the current is drawn too much, has been designed.

Material selections, non-linear structural analyses, laboratory tests and approvals, and the tests and certifications of each security system in an approved laboratory have been carried out. Following the approval of the prototypes, preliminary mass production was carried out and presented to our customers.

Turbines in natural gas or power plants undergo repair and maintenance every ten years. We carried out repair, revision and reverse engineering studies on the rotor and stator stages in the high pressure and low pressure sections of these turbines.

In our gas turbine reverse engineering studies, rotor and stator blades, body parts, sealing elements and casting bodies are measured by 3D scanning method. It is important for the performance of the project and the power plant that these high-precision parts are measured by an expert team with high-quality systems.

As Defne Engineering, we have successfully completed many projects in this field for local and foreign organizations. We use our experience in this field in much more sensitive turbojet and turbofan engines.
