Airplane Seat Design

Passenger aircraft seats have a structure that challenges design criteria with their lightness, durability and ergonomic features. They must have the lightest but most durable structure. It will be light and durable, but it must also have a certain level of comfort ergonomically. Their durability features require up to ten times greater durability and lifespan compared to the requirements of automotive (land vehicle) seats. These strengths and tests are determined by international aviation standards. The durability of the products is tested and certified by companies authorized to approve them. The production processes of the products must also comply with the standards (AS9100).

Benchmarking

While creating an aircraft seat design road map, benchmarking is one of the first steps to be carried out. Benchmarking work provided us with the keys to design, clues to production, and properties of materials. The benchmarking study also showed what geometric approaches should be used to ensure that the product meets the durability and lightness criteria.

Mechanical Design

Benchmarking studies also provide information about how companies’ patents were created. The mechanical design of the product, which will provide lightness and durability conditions unlike competing products, was carried out by a team effort. Mechanical design studies, which were carried out in coordination with patent and certification persons and institutions that provide side support to teamwork, were verified with mock-up and prototype productions and the tests were successfully passed. Aircraft seats, whose design work started in the second half of 2011 and mass production started in January 2014, had an industry size of 3 billion dollars that year.

Cash Register Designs

Payment recording devices, that is, cash registers, have been made obligatory to use those with a new structure, both mechanical and electronic, with the amendment of the Ministry of Finance regulation. This innovation will not allow cable entry from inside to outside or from outside to inside mechanically. There will be a single seal and the inside of the box will not be accessible without removing this seal. Mechanical restrictions have been defined, such as not allowing access inside without breaking it. Many of our projects, including concept design, mechanical design, thermal analysis and tests, prototype production, testing and verification, and mass production control, have been successfully completed without any problems. We have developed many projects under the main title of cash register with our customer Enpos company. Cash registers, which are the products of these projects, are the domestically produced products with the highest market share in the market. This success has been achieved with the company’s strong infrastructure and Defne Engineering’s creative solutions.

Physical Therapy Products

A product development and production project was carried out that could combine physical therapy of movable joints such as arms, shoulders and wrists, and that could be used for intensive use such as hospitals and for different types of people. Our customer HoustonBionics was redesigned for the hospital based on the mechanical system he developed. Modular mounting of damping systems, which we call dampers, enable power dissipation at different levels, has been provided. Seats and adjustment mechanisms that can be adapted to the use of different types of people were developed and tested in hospitals for customer experience. With the experience gained in this field, a more modular, personalized, much smaller, portable and even wearable product was developed and field tests were started.

Prismatic Battery Cover Design

Prismatic batteries constitute the main structure of electrical systems. The geometry of Li-ion based batteries is in the form of a rectangular prism.

These batteries are used in mobile systems such as satellites and electric vehicles. 50 or 1000 of these can be used in a package.

The safety and security systems of these batteries are of critical importance. In this project, mechanical flux interrupter system design analysis and prototype production were carried out for these batteries.

A system that will explode at certain pressures in the battery covers, as well as a current breaker system that reduces the pressure that will occur inside if the current is drawn too much, has been designed.

Material selections, non-linear structural analyses, laboratory tests and approvals, and the tests and certifications of each security system in an approved laboratory have been carried out. Following the approval of the prototypes, preliminary mass production was carried out and presented to our customers.

Gas Turbine

Gas Turbine Repair and Revision Reverse Engineering

Turbines in natural gas or power plants undergo repair and maintenance every ten years. We carried out repair, revision and reverse engineering studies on the rotor and stator stages in the high pressure and low pressure sections of these turbines.

In our gas turbine reverse engineering studies, rotor and stator blades, body parts, sealing elements and casting bodies are measured by 3D scanning method. It is important for the performance of the project and the power plant that these high-precision parts are measured by an expert team with high-quality systems.

As Defne Engineering, we have successfully completed many projects in this field for local and foreign organizations. We use our experience in this field in much more sensitive turbojet and turbofan engines.

Mechanical Design

A study was carried out to revise an existing shotgun mechanism with a different external appearance.

The internal system of an already produced product was used and adapted to a weapon with a completely different appearance. The trigger system has been transferred to the front with a simple mechanical system, and the outer body has been redesigned to enable these systems to operate comfortably and smoothly. The produced prototype of the product was subjected to firing tests by our customer and was directed to a foreign company for mass production.

Mask – Valve Design

The concept approach of the product is the Vent design used in the masks given by the customer. 3 different geometries are designed for valves. Products were tested with rapid prototype production for function and visual checks. All of the alternatives designed by us are planned to be put into production and the mass production phase has begun to be offered to different sectors.

Medical Nasal Cannula Design

Orya Medikal, which supplies nasal cannulas used in babies and children, contacted our company to find out what can be done and how we can work on this issue. The products available on the market were examined. We presented our roadmap to Orya Medikal for a product design that is unique to them, more ergonomic, less irritating and less bothersome to the user. They carried out the tests with the prototypes we produced as a result of our design and development studies. The company applied for a patent and started mass production of the product.
